Album Review/ Alt Folk : Debi Derryberry’s ‘Go to Slee’

Debi Derryberry has released her ‘Go to Sleep Lullaby’ Album, a collection of songs that are made to put kids to sleep. With soothing tones, sweet imagery, and immersive lyrics, the artist crafts relatable music that can engage a child and gradually lead them to sleep. If you’re looking for a simple yet creative way of helping your child go peacefully into their sleep, this is the album for you. The vocals are memorable and easily likable. With hums and serene tones, it makes its way through the many ways of falling asleep. Not only that, but it loops in educational aspects, developmental moments in a child’s day and gently loops it into the song. Engaging the child, slowly relaxing them.

You’ll see this immediately in the opening track, ‘Go to Sleep’. So many visuals, bodily relaxation, all of it done in a way that is enjoyable to the child. That balance of entertaining without energizing is walked very well throughout the song. The acoustics are calming, mellow and cozy. Happy in a way that is feel-good and makes the child feel calm and secure. We see similar make ups in tracks like ‘What Does Good Night Feel Like’ and ‘I Wish We Could Fly Together’. These tracks have a way of simulating sleep around the child. It’s all about the feeling, where the mind stays with the song, makes them a little joyful, there might be a little laughter. And soon they feel the soothing waves of sleep take over.

‘Slumberland’ is a storytelling song. One that leads the child to imaginative spaces and creates sleep through sweet imagery. It keeps the child in these planes, lost in a magical land. The melodies are soft toned, made in a way to ease the mind and lift the body to sleep. ‘World of Wonder’ also has a lot of stories and imaginative moments in it.

Finally, in tracks like ‘In The Arms of my Rocking Chair’ and ‘Hush Little Baby’, the artist brings a rhyming animation to the song. However, with a more soothing character. It might give the child some sense of familiarity, but it is softened and made mellow to bring them to sleep. This album is a golden collection of parents trying to put their children to sleep. With its feel good flow and warm tones, it’s the holy grail for sleep songs, especially on days when you are too tired to sing or tell a story. These songs are a God send! Listen Now!
