Album Review/ Electro Pop : Torrance’s ‘Galaxy of Punks’
Torrance is a new age, imaginative, glamorous, electro pop artist. His soundscapes are like 3D art paintings of feelings, stories, and human experiences. You’ll especially experience it in his latest release, ‘Galaxy of Punks’ album. The tracks are colorful, high energy and full of visuals. Each one orchestrates space themes with rock, indie pop, and electric dance electronica. He doesn’t shy away from theatrics, instead leans into it and blows it up into a fantastic orb of music.
The collection opens with ‘Cosmos’, a playful and passionate invite to explore the cosmos and expand your mind. It frolics with electric color and promises vastness. And it’s the perfect introductory anthem that launches the collection. In ‘More Than Me’,‘Starchild’, ‘Space Cadet’, and ‘Blast Off’, he walks a softer path, more contemplative and journeying. It leads the listener through loops of feeling and thematic drift.
As you journey through the album, you’ll start to see the influences of Prince and David Bowie. Their authentic boldness, outrageous performances and glam. In tracks like ‘Get It Baby’ we are washed by the artist’s iconic pulse. The edge, sharp toothed and claw ready, comes out in the title track. There’s the sass, the crisp grooves, the individuality, the spark, and the punk of it all. Across the collection, the artist pushes an expanse, a moment to just let yourself open and be the truest, most fabulous version of yourself. With each track, the inhibitions become depleted. There is so much reinforcement, positivity, joy, and celebration.
In ‘I Don’t Care Anymore’ and ‘Mothership’, he lets it all go. Sing along pop supplemented by the electric clouds of synths. Especially in the latter, you’ll be washed by a rich Weeknd influence. The beats, the synths, the dance, the emotion, and the highs. All an intoxicating mix of movement and marvel. Listen Now!
