Album Review/ Gospel : Levi Sap Nei Thang’s ‘My Little Offering’

Levi Sap Nei Thang is a singer-songwriter and country folk artist. Her latest release is ‘My Little Offering’ in which she paints rolling country scenes. Like a painting it forms with textures and color, imagery and full of emotion. Stroke by stroke, she builds a life of memories, thoughts, feelings, and dreams. Her style is marked by nostalgia and fond contemplation. With honest words and storytelling vocals, she gives her listeners everything. It is vulnerable, real and endearing.

This latest album is a gospel music collection. With an atmosphere of devotion and a heart full of surrender, she makes her offerings to God. She lets her belief and faith color the canvas. With soft country elements and a singer-songwriter intimacy, she builds up to her love for the Lord. The title track sets the tone and style for the collection. It’s soft, confessional and full of melting sweetness. We see it across all tracks. In ‘If All I Have Is Me’, ‘Jesus I Come to You’, and ‘Wounds into Music’ we see a contemporary pop spread, softened with moments of country music. When you listen to these, they have a way of clarifying the soul and helping you see the vision that she has for herself and her faith.

‘I Confess My Shame’ is a dramatic contemporary pop track with a guitar flair and a powerful punctuating line. Her vocals are supreme, loaded with a grandiose that is humble and humbling. In ‘Grace That Carried me Home’, we see a little bit of those gospel chorals that feel a little bit more transcendental. The style deepens and gains legs with ‘Lord Come Clean to Me’.

Following all of these tracks are beautifully crafted love songs to the lord. We see it in Arabic, Chinese, Hebrew, Hindi, Malay, and Persian. Tracks that quiver with feeling, that open up something inside you. The artist’s ability to transfer her feelings in a way that moves the audience especially shines here. In so many beautiful tongues, she explores her love for Jesus. The listening experience deepens you. Listen Now!
