Album Review/ Rock : Mick J Clark’s ‘Pole Position’
Mick J Clark is a singer-songwriter and a classic rock artist with a voice like butter. The artist has such a natural style and charisma that translates to a unique performative allure. His music is a brand of its own and it’s delightful to take in. The emotion of it, the mood that he casts and the effortlessness that he brings to his craft. It’s all quite memorable. His latest release is ‘Pole Position’, a collection of tracks that is sure to elevate your day with its feel-good rhythms, thoughtful vocals, and insightful lyrics.
The collection begins with ‘There’s Nothing Anybody Can Do’. It is a comforting track that feels like a hug. A track that just holds your hand as you go through it. Warm instrumentals are lush all around. He has a way of bringing the universal to personal experience. It makes you feel less alone in your experience. In ‘Everybody Needs a Place to Hide’, you’ll find such a lilting tenderness both in message and tone.
In tracks like ‘Honey You’re a Fool to Cry’, ‘Goodbye My Love’, and ‘This is Where My Heart Belongs’, there is an incredible softness. Tinted with sweet romantic pain and dreamy tones, these songs take you back to the era of Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra. That retro, chivalrous romance is such a lilting boost.
The energy picks up with tracks like ‘Just Gimme Some Lovin’, and ‘Walking Down 5th Avenue’. The rock comes out to play and it is quite the spectacle. Rolling riffs, electric chords and active beat line make for such an enjoyable soundscape. Mick’s vocals make catchy loops, rhythmically fun and so light. You can just take off with it, anchored by the weight of instrumental goodness. Such a great place to be. That’s for sure. It’s how the whole album feels. Listen Now!
