Ben Tucker Unleashes His Elegant Country Folk Essence With Self-Titled EP

Ben Tucker is a country folk artist and singer-songwriter. His style manifests around soulful compositions that reveal the depths of human emotion and the details of universal human affairs. He has a classic and timeless musicality, peppering his old school country with elements of soft rock, blues and soul. The artist has debuted with a self-titled EP, a collection that shows off the essence of his artistry. His vision is elegant, gestures are simple, and allure is everlasting. Listen Now!

The EP hosts five love songs, each one exploring the gradients of melancholy that is intrinsic to the experience. Some explore unrequited love and heartache, others frames of memory, sentiments, and irrevocable affection. Each track spills into the next, like a sky emptying into the boundless ocean. It is quite the listening journey, very enjoyable and pleasurable.

‘At Your Side’ introduces the collection. Winding guitar melodies, storytelling baritones, and twinkling instrumental accessories sweep us into reverie of all that love is and can be. The protagonist sings of an unexpiring love and partnership come what may. While this may be a common theme unpacked by many artists, Ben Tucker’s stands apart in its unbroken candor, honest sentiments, and lyrical potency.

‘Don’t Go Making Me Wait Forever’ forms with brighter textures and enjoyable harmonies. The jangly acoustic riffs light up the atmosphere, making it jolly and carefree despite the essential melancholia of the theme. Laced with blues, straying accordions, and whimsical chords, ‘Gambling Man’ is up next. Its slow-brewed introduction slowly leads up to a dynamic, beat-driven country jingle that celebrates the experience and wildness of youth. ‘Ever Since She Made My Head Turn’ reveals a similar edge and trajectory and forms a stylistic trio with these two tracks.

‘Beavercreek’ is a country folk ballad. Ben’s low tonal baritones are wiry lines of memory. Its deep unsaid resonance is traced by a mellow violin flow. Sharp and soft, profound and skindeep, past and present, light and shadows. These dualities conspire to make an incredibly affecting composition.

Ben Tucker definitely deserves commendation for this piece of work. The versatility and diversity of his style becomes progressively apparent as we listen through the collection. His poignant perception of human life and nature, combined with how he skilfully elicits it from the country genre is amazing. Listeners of The Mountain Goats, Andrew Jackson Jihad and John K Samson’s solo collections are sure to enjoy this EP.
