Single Review/ Alt Rock : Exzenya’s ‘B!tch Please’
Exzenya’s excellently eccentric soundscapes are back with her latest single, ‘B!tch Please’. The artist is known to stand out for her experimental boldness. Her stream of consciousness style is not something that’s been done a lot before. Channeling a distinct energy, she claims her space in the new age sonic style space. In this latest release we encounter a more assertive atmosphere to suit the theme. Snaking basslines, walking grooves, and spontaneous vocals set up the verses.
The beats are consistent, building into the track, grounding the verses. Her vocals curve and circle back, swirl and edge out. Like a labyrinth, it wanders and creates a deeper and layered soundscape. It’s as if she is working into the atmosphere to evoke more feeling and sensibilities. Because with Exzenya, it’s always about the spaces you end up in, the journey there and uncovering new thematic dimensions.
