Song Review/ Singer-Songwriter : Shannon Sargent’s ‘Don’t Ignore It’

Shannon Sargent is a singer-songwriter with a distinct vocal personality. It’s the kind of voice that you can pick out of a line up, because of how much it depicts, how much it holds. Her latest release is ‘Don’t Ignore It’, an acoustic folk track that is lit up with a quiet string of blues that runs through the track. It has a notable retro make to it. Just a girl with her guitar and her emotions, playing out the thoughts in her head. But there’s also a lot of mystique and indie culture to it.

The rhythm walks through a deep, yet colorful forest. You can feel its richness, hear the lore as its magic surrounds you. While it’s an incredibly simple make up, it runs deep with wilderness, explorative beauty and emotional complexity. Her gritty, soulful, roots vocals have a strong country edge which is instantly reminiscent of artists like Amanda Shires, Mango Price, Mary Gauthier, and the like. The weight and quiet intensity of which carries into the whole soundscape and colors it with tale, sentiment, and culture. Listen Now!
