Song Review/ Alt Pop : Lost Chimes’ ‘Man Mother Boy’

Lost Chimes is a contemporary, new age alt folk duo, Gemma and Nicky Kirk. The combination of theatrical neoclassicals and highland folk with the enchanting vocal depth of the Gemma transports you. Their latest release is ‘Man Mother Boy’, a track that is crafted with rustic folk acoustics and earthy beats. And flowing through it, like an ethereal river is the vocals. It has a ribbon like fluidity to it, floating and flowing as if gravitating to something.

To an emotion that is so complex yet so visceral and deeply human. It opens the instrumental spirit, creates space for Nicky to expand into it. Neoclassicals weave through, as if joyous, celebrating the epiphanic times in the voice. And just like the jingle of the tambourine sounds, a bag pipe plane tunes in. The song has a very soft spontaneity, something nomadic and wild about it. Listen Now!
