Song Review/ Alt : Throes NYC’s ‘Always, Baby’

Throes NYC is an alternative banner that manifests emotion as music. It is made up by the creative minds of multi-instrumentalist and producer, Michael Bozzo and vocalist, Courtney Leo. Together, they identify so many moments of music in ideas interacting with places, with people, memories. All of this to make up a mosaic of music that is as fluid as the human experience. Their latest release is the ‘The Wires Out EP’, a double single that showcases the unique creative range of this project. 

Taken from this is the track, ‘Always, Baby’. It is light and soft, catching the gliding light of Courtney Leo’s vocals. There is an incredible nostalgia to the song that you can pick up on almost instantly. Soft flashing synths are webbed by a complex and intertwining network of modern electronica. Like a cerebral sonic gauze, this network encloses over the initial frames and deepens the feeling. An abstract development that opens something up. The romance of the track, of the theme is sparked in that shoegaze reminiscent frame. As it evolves into the climax, it gets more and more surreal, more and more blue and blurry like a gloomy, rainy day.
