Song Review/ Electronica : Smijdal’s ‘Pop The Bottle’
Smidjal is an electronic artist. His music is just like his moniker. It’s spontaneous, modern and sets its own rules. His latest release is ‘Pop The Bottle’, a track that sets up an electric, funky and an eccentric soundscape. Its goal? To create an atmosphere of cerebral movement. The rhythm is mercurial and layered. It has a form and an energy, but that’s it. The way it scales is so interesting to be a part of, to participate in. It’s a deliberately raw, almost distorted presentation that is meant to be abrasive.
Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
The artist pushes the rhythm, the drums, the vocals and the synths to oversaturation; and does it well, creating a unique stylistic marker in the process. This is nicely contrasted with the lo-fi energy in the backdrop of the track. A drastic juxtaposition yet complementing interaction that extracts a whole new energy from the listener. Or perhaps creates a new wavelength in them. The short form intensity with a dark atmospheric lull is so fitting to the modern world we live in today. If you enjoy artists like Moyoswrld, YNG BNZO, Kenzo Creagan and the like, you’ll love this artist’s work. Listen Now!
