Song Review/ Folk : Klarstein.rocks’ ‘Under Dim & Shaking Lights’

Klarstein.rocks is a German musical project that was originally founded in the 1990s. The project explores the spectrum between Neue Deutsche Welle, Americana, and folk rock to create narrative-driven sound fragments. When you listen to it, you feel anchored by its simplicity, and elated by the profound musical moments. Their latest release is the ‘Under Dim & Shaking Lights’ album, a collection that was started in the 90s and is now seeing fruition.

For this review, we’re exploring the title track. Crafted in 1996, the track carries a lot of features from that time. The bare folk vocals matched the ukulele strings. It’s a simple and straightforward track. But it sets out a journey. Wandering from frame to frame, through narrative landscapes and soft tales, the song stretches on, in the best way.
