Song Review/ Indie Rock : Delta of Venus’s Intertwined b/w Intertwined (acoustic)’
Delta of Venus is a mellow alternative rock band that sends their songs in exploration of deep humanness. They trace the horizon where indie pop meets shoegaze, creating spectrums of sound and feeling. Their style can be characterised as an expanse, each arc leading off into a distance, always suggesting, interpreting, and extrapolating. Their latest release is ‘Intertwined b/w Intertwined (acoustic)’, two stylistic perspectives of the same song juxtaposed beautifully.
With ‘Intertwined’, they sample a simple plane, progressively adding rock dimensions to it. The riffs are dazing and the beats create fading rhythms. Both these elements combined with the surreal spirit of the vocals become more like an orb of energy than a body of art. It is so immersively enchanting. That feeling of weightless bliss, a transient but deep sensation of joy is left behind for the listener to take in.
In the acoustic version, the textures are well sprung, resonant and luminous. The acoustic riffs make up the track, posing an enjoyable contrast to the smooth vocal line. With this version, they go for a grounding feeling, rustic, woody, and more intimate. All of it presents an acoustic rock/ alt folk unity that takes you back to artists like Nick Drake, Joni Mitchell, and Steve, Nash, Crosby, & Young. Listen Now!
