Song Review/ Singer-Songwriter : Alexis Lace’s ‘Stork’

Alexis Lace is a singer-songwriter and contemporary pop artist. Her soundscapes are vocal dominant. She holds her emotions powerfully in her voice. It is revealing, vulnerable and opens up a way to connect with her experience and emotion. In her latest release, ‘Stork’, she delves into a relationship that ended. The aftermath is seemingly calm, but the pain broils and reveals itself in the silence between the piano notes, in the vocal pauses, and in the lyrical depth.

The listener is given a lot of raw glimpses into the relationship. It ultimately boiled down the question of wanting children. As the vocals swirl and flow, you can sense notes of betrayal, bitterness and an ache of not being understood and despite everything that they have gone through. Despite its minimalistic form, it’s quite a loaded song, full of quiet parlance that you can explore each time you listen.
