Thistle Sifter’s ‘Forgotten Man’ Portrays an Ethereal Post-Rock Melancholy

Thistle Sifter is the ambient instrumental project of English musician Pete Barnes. His soundscapes are conceptual palaces that drive at the fundamentals of post rock, using textures, timbres, and complex melody cycles to pose deep humanistic and emotional frames. In his latest single, ‘Forgotten Man’, the artist calls the listener to dwell in an ambience of soft despondence and deep melancholia.

He portrays this nuanced emotional gradient with powerful riff booms, elevating their melancholic intensity with electronic flushes. We see tails of ethereal echoes in the wake of roaring arcs, perhaps to carve spaces for contemplation and reflection. The flow reflects sublime artistic quality, both in ideation and execution. Even the productional value is up there, designed specifically to bring dimensions of dysfunction, displacement, and disassociation that often comes with feeling lonely or invisible. Listen Now!

The track is available for streaming on popular sites like Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, and Amazon Music!
