Ubu Crafts Explorative Sonic Atmospheres in their Self-Titled Album

UBU is a musical collaboration and recording project by Mattia Mercuriali and Marco Trinchillo. It is an explorative banner fills the ambience, infusing it with emotive, cerebral, and performative quotients to complement the vocals. And refined with an insightful touch of production, each composition naturally and organically comes to life. UBU has just released their debut, self-titled album, featuring a range of artists, across eleven tracks. Each track blooms with a new life, a fresh perspective, and an unexpected sonic pallet. It’s mild and mellow, but it beautifully draws out the matters of the heart. With poetry, contemplation, stark clarity, and surreal flows. Listen Now!

The collection is opened by ‘Static’ featuring Hannah Saunders on the vocals. Her deep and resonant timbre conveys a great melancholy. The artists craft a simplistic soundscape around it to highlight the beautiful dimension and details of her evocation.

‘Over’ alters the serene plane of its predecessor. A warping electronic accent compels a spark in the mind before the muted mist of FRNQ’s vocal evoke a daze reminiscent of Lorde and Clairo. In the chorus, they blossom into a warm baritones, giving rise to a meadow of acoustics and ethereal swirls.

‘Distress Stream’ is fathomed with a high concept. With experimental electronica, dotting and dashing effects, the track creates a cerebral disarray and disorientation. This perfectly rides into the theme. Even ‘Forest Guy’ is implemented with a similar vision. Blending ringing folk textures with wandering electronica, experimental antics, and talking vocals, the theme gains a futuristic and spatial facet. These two tracks mark the inculcation of progressive rhythm patterns and percussive elements in the album.

In ‘Between The Bars’, lying underneath the blanket of mellifluous vocals and acoustics is a plane of hyperbolic beats that creatively ties into the composition. And through the eclectic frames of ‘Fall’, an evolving percussive continuum forms. ‘Romance’ pops with interesting beatlines that elevate the sonic cross-sections.

‘Flower’, featuring Luca Parma, is a downtempo electro-pop track. Misted with romance and soul, dancing synths and luminous acoustics. The soundscape becomes embossed, its music almost coming out and pouring into you.

The album is a horizon of beats, electronica, acoustics, and grooves, a bounty that keeps on giving, both in sonic perspectives and vibes. It rises above the average, reconciling all that was thought irreconcilable in a way that is valuable and insightful.
