Album Review/ Contemporary Piano : Ashton Danieyan’s ‘Make Classical Music Great Again’
Ashton Danielyan is a classical music artist and composer who is adept at casting melodic spells. His musical ambience presents as deceptively simple. Immersive and layered with incredible sentiment and emotional gradients, there’s always something alive within his compositions. You can feel it. His latest release is the ‘Make Classical Music Great Again’ album. It is a collection that seeks to revive the beautiful landscapes and techniques of classical music in the modern era.
Each compositional piece in this collection is meant to reveal the magic, the nuance, and the intricate details of the craft. With his refined skill and sophisticated vision, the artist is able to showcase the depths of human experiences that you can capture. As you journey through the songs, you’ll be transported by the musical power of the contemporary classical piano.
The artist seemingly crafts this collection from a meditative plane. With piano tones that are simple and relatable, he scales the composition gradually. He doesn’t subscribe to the rigid notions of traditional classical music. Lending himself to momentous inspiration and organic musical revelation, he allows the pieces to claim the flow. In tracks like ‘Beginning of This April’ and ‘Middle of this April’ especially, you’ll see him dallying and playful. There’s whimsy in these tracks. A sense of openness and open-ended warmth that will keep you in the moment.
There’s also a lot of romanticism to his style, which he delicately balances with neutral lines of meditative restraint. It’s beautiful to dally in the plain, yet imaginative landscapes of ‘Cold Flowers’ and ‘Warm May Night’. The titles set a romantic expectation, which the artist meets with unique and novel interpretations. While the former is laden with a plush sense of melancholy, the latter is lush like green grass in the spring. There’s a lukewarm atmosphere that brims around the scene and gently draws you into its embrace.
‘Middle of This July’ shows up with deeper chromatism. The emotion emerges from a gloomy sphere, taking the listener to a solemn scene. It’s incredibly reflective and meditative. A globe of solitude that feels as if it is in the middle of becoming. In the thick of growth. ‘9 Days Until August’ retains some of its predecessor’s solemn energy, but it progressively lightens. With beautiful airy notes and floating rhythms, it effortlessly glides through.
The collection ends with ‘All The Worlds Are Funny’. With reflective tones and soft explorations, the track sets a scene and goes exploring it. There’s not much of a linear movement in this track. It lingers and hovers, does deeper into the moment and dallies with musical notes and feeling. Listen Now!
