Album Review/ Rock : By Million Wires’ ‘Not Over’
By Million Wires is a rock band with such an immersive sound. Their songs are not just music, they are rock feelings, intricate worlds that you journey through. Their upcoming album is ‘Not Over’, a five track album that sets up the ethos of the band. The band does such a great job with the collection because they showcase such varied moods and emotional themes. All of them are distinct and unique from each other. You know how most artists and bands have an almost formulaic sound. And after a point it becomes predictable? That will not be your experience with ‘By Million Wires’. They have such a prolific repertoire, a style that adapts, evolves and grows where the theme needs it.
Three tracks from the album have already been released. Among just these tracks, you can see the vast differences and stylistic nuances of the band.
‘Over’ is an expansive track that lengthens time and lets you freely roam a cerebrally evocative space. Think expansive skies, never ending roads, and deep emotions. All of it colliding into a dazing rock dream. It has a soothing rhythm and a hypnotic undertone.
‘Glass Houses’ also has a deep and slow forming rhythm. The instrumentals are vested with a combination of classic rock blues and an alternative intensity. The result is a track that immerses you in texture and builds lofty emotions. All of the tracks have a little bit of a drift, the mood of a roaming traveller trying to make sense of the world. That ambience of a melancholic philosopher fills up the soundscape and becomes the backdrop for a lot of thematic exploration. If you’re looking for tracks to elevate your solitude with, then this album is for you!
‘I Know Better’ is the latest release from the album. The instrumentals on this start at a daze and are allowed to grow into almost shoegaze spaces. The vocals are thoughtful as they tell stories. Long extended vocal lines, further dilated by long form guitar chords and swirling bass punches. As you listen, you can feel all the worlds come to life.
The atmospheric post rock/ indie sound is reinforced even in the last two tracks, ‘Lost or Won’ and ‘Runaway’. If you like the cinematic and instrumental emotional builds of bands like ‘Explosions in the Sky’ and ‘This Will Destroy You’, you’re sure to love the worlds that this band creates. Other notable bands who have a similar styles are DIIV, Joy Division and White Lies.
The album is all set to release on 1st May, 2026. Make sure to pre-save it so you don’t miss it when it comes out! Listen Now!
