Song Review/ Alt Rock : Last Letters’ ‘It’s A Shame’
Last Letters is an alt rock project of songwriter Charles Iwuc. Marked by the stylistic themes and features of the 90s, the band’s sound has that cult classic feel to it. Their latest release is ‘It’s a Shame’, a track about a wasted love, a love that was not fought for, that was broken immaturely. The song has a very homemade sound and feel. Not in terms of quality but in the feeling.
The connection is instant. Feels like home. You can feel it in the coarse guitar riffs, bare acoustic accents, feel-good anthemic lifts and a vocal that shows you everything. It is youthful and disarmingly vulnerable. The perfect formula for a heartache anthem. Think ‘Wonderwall’ or ‘Don’t Look Back in Anger' by Oasis, ‘End of Beginning’ by Djo.
