Song Review/ Jazz : Carmelo Alfano’s ‘Is This You?’

Carmelo Alfano is a solo artist, composer and singer-songwriter. His music does not form in a vacuum. It swirls in thoughtful and creative ambiences. ‘Is This You?’ is the artist’s latest release, an art pop single that relates to bands like Lemon Jelly, Air and Zero Seven. Starting off with a blues ballad-esque build, it lifts into a cinematic orchestration frame.

The vocals quiver with liveliness, a beautiful way to make the emotion feel present across the soundscape. A winding violin line runs through the song. Like a river running through changing landscapes, it witnesses the progressive ambience of the song, gathering the cinematic flows and orchestral jazz tones into a beautiful art pop exploration. It’s a track that is built to playfully tease, before sinking into an intimately evocative frame. Listen Now!
