Song Review/ Rock : BROK’s ‘Liar’
BROK is a Manchester based rock band with an explorative approach to music. Forming along the edges of alt rock, progressive rock and blues, their sound is guitar driven and rich with imagery and new musical scenery. From their latest album, ‘Hide The Sun’, we dive into ‘Liar’ as a stylistic reference point for this article. The track is notable especially because of its progressive format. Going past the usual verse-chorus-bridge format, the band creates an atmosphere around the theme.
The instrumental passages are so immersive and rhythmic changes create cerebral, almost psychedelic moments of music. There are a few recurring motifs or musical characters that are opened up and made more fluid with blues influences. It’s a moody and moorish track that inflames the inner landscapes of the mind and takes your mind to such imaginary worlds. Listen Now!
