Song Review/ Rock : Reign’s ‘Mirrors’
Reign is a four piece rock band from Oxford. Their style seems to be in a flow state. It’s a pleasure to watch the evolution of their sound across just a single track. Their latest release is ‘Mirrors’, a track that creates the best kind of vivid daze. It has a lot of blues flavors, informed by roots-rock styles and a lot of soul. There’s a lot of repetitive grooves and explorative vocals that take you to artists like Michael Kiwanuka and Hozier.
The sound of this track really takes you away from the world. It has its own energy that draws you in and closes the rest of everything out. You’ll see mellow soulful funk form with blues rock and psychedelic textures. The tone and ambience of the song is looped into a philosophical realm with confounding fairytale references and existential dread. The bridge is especially fun with bubbling funk jazz grooves, leading us into a lofi atmosphere of thought and feeling. Definitely a fun and unique track. Listen Now!
